Specially for Moms

Whatever the age of your kids, whatever the level of participation you get from your spouse, whether you stay at home or go to work, you could probably use some extra help.  Below are some sites that offer support to new moms or give experienced moms some new perspective.  Not everything below is in Pflugerville, but the first step is only a short hop through cyberspace...

MOMS Club of Pflugerville  Has monthly meetings with speakers, as well as playgroups, Mom's Night Out activities, and much more.  Get to know other moms in your town - they may turn out to be your neighbors!  Meetings are held one morning per month, with many activities throughout the week.
     There are now two MOMS Clubs, depending on your neighborhood:

AustinMama.com is an interesting local  site for "Thinking Mamas."  It has articles on a wide variety of topics and, get this, not only about babies!  It supports local artists, writers, and Mom entrepreneurs.  Definitely an interesting read.

La Leche League   There are no La Leche League meetings in Pflugerville, but if you're breastfeeding, it is well worth the drive to any of these nearby sites (Round Rock, Austin, Cedar Park) to meet with other like-minded moms and to get some support.

The Mother's Milk Bank at Austin  provides pasteurized mothers' milk to premature babies.  If you are a nursing mother who would like to donate milk, or if you're beyond that stage but would like to know what other volunteer opportunities there are at this worthwhile organization, check out their website.

Tapestry Singers is the Austin area's only non-audition women's chorus.  Singers of all abilities are welcomed to weekly rehearsals at any time during the year. Visitors are also welcome to observe rehearsals and the chorus. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7-9pm at the Chapel on the grounds of the Austin State Hospital at 4110 Guadalupe.
